This is a personal blog run by one person. I don’t sell data, run ads, or use invasive trackers. Here’s what happens when you visit.
Analytics
Koko Analytics — I use this privacy-friendly WordPress plugin to see basic page view and referrer stats. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t collect personal data, and doesn’t send anything to third parties. All data stays on this server.
Google Analytics (GA4) — I also use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns. GA4 uses first-party cookies and anonymises IP addresses. Google processes this data under its privacy policy. If you want to opt out, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension.
Cookies
This site uses only essential cookies:
- GA4 cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) — for analytics, as described above - WordPress session cookies — only set if you log in (which you probably won’t, since there’s no registration)
- Comment cookies — if you leave a comment and check “save my name and email”, a convenience cookie is stored for one year
No advertising cookies. No third-party tracking cookies.
Comments
When you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email address, and website URL you provide, along with the comment text, your IP address, and browser user agent. The IP and user agent are used for spam detection. Your email is never displayed publicly.
Comments are checked by a simple honeypot spam filter — no external spam detection services are used.
Embedded content
Some posts may include embedded content (YouTube videos, tweets, code snippets from GitHub, etc.). These behave as if you visited those sites directly — they may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies.
Data sharing
I don’t sell, trade, or share your data with anyone. The only third party that receives data is Google (via GA4), as described above.
Your rights
If you’ve left a comment and want it removed, or want to know what data I hold about you, just reach out. You can find me on the About Me page.
